It was time for the construction of the tabernacle to begin. God had not only given the exact blueprints and the materials list, but He had also gifted the men with wisdom and craftsmanship to know how to complete the project. These men knew exactly what they needed to complete the project as God wanted it. God had gifted them for this moment.
The people of Israel when given the opportunity to give offerings for the creation of the tabernacle, stepped up to the plate and gave generously. In fact, scripture tells us that the people gave so generously that the men in charge of the construction had to have a meeting with Moses to ask the people to stop giving. They had more than enough materials. This too shows the wisdom gifted to the men in charge of the project. They knew exactly how much materials were needed and knew when they had too much.
Let's Reflect
1. The two men who were the overseers of the project were Bezalel and Oholiab. These two were not the only craftsmen that God called for the project. What does verse 2 tell us about that?
2. After the initial offering taken up for the build, what does the Bible say about the generosity of the people?
3. What proclamation had to be made because of their generosity?
4. The sizes are recorded of all the curtains made for the tabernacle. What does verse 9 tell us about all of the curtains?
5. What was the covering of the tabernacle made of?
6. The framework that the curtains rested on were posts made of acacia wood. These posts were put together by a system of what?
7. Verse 34 tells us that the framework was overlaid with what material?
8. What color was the veil that was the curtain divider in the tabernacle?
9. Do you get the sense after reading the description, that this was a very beautiful and elaborate tent?
