Despite the worry of Moses, the people did believe him when he told them he was sent by God to rescue them, and they rejoiced in the good news. Exodus 4:31 And the people believed; and when they heard that the LORD had visited the people of Israel and that he had seen their affliction, they bowed their heads and worshiped. But that rejoicing ended quickly when the Pharoah decided to make life even more difficult for the slaves. The Israelites had not yet learned that they could trust their God and that He was powerful enough to deliver them, even from the hand of the Pharoah. The most powerful nation in the world.
Let's Reflect
1. It may sound as if Moses and Aaron were fabricating a lie about why the people of Isael should be released. But it was not a lie. They were asking for freedom and freedom to worship their God as they pleased. What was the response of Pharoah to this request?
2. They then repeated the request that God had told them to make, an easy request of just allowing the Israelites to go three days journey to make a sacrifice to their God. How did the Pharoah respond to the second request?
3. The Israelites were accused of being lazy. How did the Pharoah come to this conclusion and what was his punishment for their laziness?
4. A bit later some Israelite foremen went and boldly asked the Pharoah for help. How was their request received?
5. Who did the foremen blame for their troubles?
6. Who did Moses blame for the trouble?
