Abram had a season of life that was difficult, and he doubted God for a bit and took matters into his own hands. But God showed him that he wanted Abram to trust Him in every aspect of His life. He realized that God could have taken care of him and his family despite a great famine. Abram knowing he should have trusted God, instructed all of his family members and his people to gather up all of their herds and their belongings and they were going back to the land where they had started from – home.
God includes for us the account of Abram’s nephew Lot. Lot thought differently than Abram. Abram sought to please his God, but Lot sought to please himself. Lot wanted the best for himself and his family. Abram on the other hand had learned to trust God and knew that no matter where he lived God would take care of him. Abram learned a great lesson that he could trust God.
Let's Reflect
1. When Abram left Egypt what was his net worth?
2. Did God promise Abram even more?
3. What was the thought process of Lot in choosing the land that he wanted for his family?
4. When Lot had separated himself and his herds from Abram, what was the first thing that happened to Abram?
5. What was Abram’s first response to what he had just heard?
