Hebrews Chapter 13

This last chapter reminds us that the pursuit of holiness in our daily living - is pleasing to the Lord. It is the way of life that we should desire to live after all Jesus has done for us. It should never be enough to just rest in our salvation, but we need to strive to be more like Christ every day. This is the sacrifice that He desires from us. This is what it means to be a follower of Jesus.

Hebrews 13:15Through Him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge His name.

Let's Reflect

1. In practicing hospitality, the Bible tells us we might even entertain whom?

2. The two biggest things in life that trip people up are sexual sins and the love of money. What does the author say about keeping yourself from sinning in either of these two areas?

3. Two great doctrinal truths can be found in this chapter that can help us in our walk with Christ. What are they? See verse 5b-6 and verse 8.

4. There is never a shortage of strange doctrines in the church, and the author warns us to be careful not to be led away by those teachings. In this particular instance, he warned about those who were teaching a return to the Levitical system and offering sacrifices on an altar. This false practice contradicted the work that Jesus had done. Jesus was the ultimate sacrifice on the altar outside the camp when He did what?

5. Verse 16 tells us that when we do good and share with others what we have – this is what?

6. The same God who raised Jesus from the dead, is the God who can give us peace when we live for Jesus. According to verse 21, He will even do what to help us live a life that pleases Him? How is your walk with Jesus going? Are you continually offering up praise to Him with your lips? Are you acknowledging the name of Jesus out loud to others?
