Luke Chapter 5

Can you imagine what it would have been like for Simon Peter to have the honor of having Jesus teach from his boat? It seems every where Jesus went a crowd was eager to hear Him speak. It makes you wonder just what all Jesus shared with His listeners. We can only imagine how intently Peter listened as Jesus spoke that day. Jesus was about to do a NEW thing in the life of these fishermen.

Let's Reflect

1. After Jesus finished speaking, He instructed Peter to go out to where the water was a bit deeper and to let down the nets. Peter agreed to do as Jesus instructed him too. By what name did he call Jesus?

2. Jesus performed a miracle that day. He filled their nets so full of fish that when they dragged in their catch, there were so many that their boats started sinking. How did Peter react to this miracle?

3. As commercial fishmen, having someone like Jesus around would be amazing for their business, but Jesus had a different plan for these men. What was it?

4. Another incredible miracle was performed by Jesus for a man with leprosy. Jesus reached out and touched this man, something no one would do. What did Jesus want the healed man to do to proclaim that He was made whole?

5. As the word spread of the healing miracles that Jesus performed, the crowds grew exponentially. The Bible emphasizes that Jesus withdrew from the crowds at times. Why?

6. What did Jesus say to the paralyzed man when he was lowered from the roof? The words Jesus said was heard by the Pharisees and scribes and they were very upset. Why?

7. The Son of God proved He was the Son of God by doing what?

8. Jesus had asked fishermen to be His disciples and in verse 27 He asked another man to follow Him, someone whom no one would like to have as a friend. Who was that man?

9. The scribes and Pharisees as well as many Jewish people had been waiting for the promised Messiah. But this man called Jesus had a different way about Him. He didn’t do things the way the people expected their Messiah to do things. What examples did Jesus use, to say to the Pharisees and scribes, that He was about a NEW way?

10. Besides your salvation what new thing has He started in your life or your family’s life?
