Esther Chapter 7

Haman had thought he had made a name for himself. He thought he was someone important in the kingdom. In fact, he thought he was the king’s most favored right-hand man. In his great pride Haman thought he could murder a group of God’s protected people and get away with it. He thought wrong. God saw what Haman was doing and planning.
God gave Esther great wisdom when she invited Haman to the feast she prepared for the king. In fact, now on the second day of this feast, Haman was again invited. She wanted to make sure he was there when she brought forth her request to the king. Neither man knew that she was a Jew and neither man had known that her life was in danger.
Let's Reflect
1. When she asked for her request to the king, she did not just blurt out the truth that Haman had ordered the Jews to be murdered, nor did she reveal immediately that she herself was a Jew. How did she present her request?
2. What did she mention that had it been the only plight of her people, she would have kept quiet?
3. What did she call the man, Haman, who was the guilty party?
4. How did the king react when he first understood the totality of this news?
5. Haman stayed in the room begging for his life from the queen. How did this posture of begging look to the king when he returned to the room?
6. The king also learned what Haman had been plotting regarding Mordecai, who the king had just paid great attention and honor for his heroism. What had been Haman’s plan for Mordecai?
7. What did the king pronounce as judgement on Haman?
