I Thessalonians Chapter 2

Paul ends this chapter with a declaration to the believers at Thessalonica that they were his glory and joy. The people that God allows us to minister to becomes our joy and our glory. That is far greater than any accolades, trophies, or physical rewards. To play a small part in God’s rescue plan of a life that was destined to sin and destruction is the most rewarding work one can be a part of. Paul wanted the people he ministered to know that their benefit of coming to know the Lord was worth every ounce of energy he put forth to further the gospel.

Let's Reflect

1. Despite the harassment that he had endured in Philippi, how did Paul present the gospel to the church at Thessalonica?

2. There are many reasons that men become pastors or priests that as Paul gave evidence to, they can be very selfish reasons. Paul knew that his preaching was blameless because he had been entrusted with the gospel and was __________________ by God.

3. God allowed many tests in Paul’s Christian walk and Paul realized these tests could break a man, but instead he relied on the strength of God to propel him forward. Paul wanted to do the things that would please whom?

4. Paul said they could have preached in such a way making demands of respect from the people because they were, after all, the apostles of Jesus Christ. Instead, what manner of preaching did Paul use?

5. In verses 9-10 we get a glimpse of Paul’s work ethic. We know from other passages that he was a tent maker by trade. He and his team probably worked all week making tents they could sell to make a living and then preached on the sabbath. What was Paul more concerned about than money?

6. In verse 13 we learn what the true meaning of the Bible is. What is the words written in the Bible that we should preach or teach others?

7. According to verses 14-16 is the gospel always readily accepted?

8. Paul recognized that it was Satan who interfered with him returning to Thessalonica to minister to the people, to help them grow to be more like Christ. Who is it that keeps interfering with your walk with the Lord and does not want you to become more like Christ?
